Baggy Sartape
Baggy Sartape has been an integral part of Hong Kong’s boating industry since 1998, initially focusing on the sale of used boats. Following the market crash of 1997, which flooded the market with undervalued used boats, there was a surge in demand from overseas markets such as Australia and the USA. This coincided with the onset of the dot-com boom in the USA, leading to increased demand for luxury yachts from Hong Kong. Leveraging his expertise in internet marketing and website design, despite being just 19 years old and fresh out of high school, Baggy significantly boosted sales numbers and connected Hong Kong brokers directly with customers and international agents. Previously, only a few international yacht brokerage firms had capitalized on this opportunity by acting as buying agents for their clients.
As the markets in Hong Kong gradually recovered and the appeal of used boats waned, Baggy Sartape diversified his portfolio by venturing into the sale of prestigious yacht brands such as Princess, Ferretti, Riviera, and various Taiwanese brands and independent shipyards. By 2005, he had secured a dealership with Astondoa yachts from Spain. Unlike many other yacht brands that imposed strict sales quotas and frequently changed local dealers, Astondoa adopted a more relaxed approach, prioritizing trust, integrity, and flexible pricing to secure the right market share. This approach allowed for greater customization according to the client’s preferences and needs.
Unlike some dealers who overpromise perfection and claim to offer flawless products, Baggy prefers to maintain a realistic approach with his customers. He sets clear expectations, prepares them for potential minor issues, and ensures that the product sold provides high value and meets the customer’s requirements. This honesty and transparency have earned Baggy a reputation for reliability and integrity in the industry.
Throughout his tenure in Hong Kong’s boating industry, Baggy Sartape has accumulated a wealth of experience and established enduring relationships with clients and partners.
